How to automate Aircraft Conceptual Design using a Graph-based Design in an early design phase for the creation of flange positions on larger structural parts?
Your role
Background
We at structural design are continuously improving our way of working to establish a higher product quality whilst shortening our development time. We are interested in taking the next step with our conceptual study & methodology.
Description of the master thesis
The Master’s Thesis aims at investigating how a Graph-based design can improve our future way of working for structural design. How can we automate certain processes to achieve a higher quality while at the same time eliminate repetitive work? This work continues on the existing work on Graph-based design and perform
- Able to create various web/ribs geometries for the fuselage frames & wing ribs and spars geometries
- The geometry obtained here are just lines that define the load paths on the fuselage frame surface.
- The generated geometry needs to meshed for analysis
- An optimization could be performed to propose a load path (if there are two students)
Your profile
The Master Theses is suitable for one to two students, with interest in Aircraft design, product development, Systems engineering/design, CAD (Catia V5), macros (VBA), stress analyses, CFD and design automation. You are at the end of your Masters in Aeronautical Engineering and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP.
General experience in programming is beneficial, particularly concerning the languages Visual Basic for applications (VBA) and python. Furthermore, practical experience in Computer Aided Design software, such as CATIA, is advantageous.
This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
